anatomy of a snowstorm

cleaning off the top of my car this afternoon and saw the perfect anatomy of our snowstorm! about 6 or so inches of snow, followed by about .2 inches of ice (see the white line near the top) with another 1 of snow on top! but god loves north carolina, we were cleaning the snow off in sweaters while a neighbor shoveled (he owns a shovel???) in a tshirt!

my open gates

made by the hand of kris kramer at the silver pendant. textured and full under the open sky. my open gate leads to what, i don't know. but even the grass swirls and curls in joy for the journey. received today, these now hang from my ears and my hand reaches up and feels the road. the reminder that i am here to be. so beautiful and i can't believe they are mine!

coming to the point

a narcissus bulb that was given to me by dawn and michelle as part of my body, mind, spirit christmas gift. i have liberated bulbs before (i hate the term force...i am giving them an opportunity to bloom freely) and i am fascinated and delighted every time. thanks, guys! this was an awesome idea!

mom loves a party

my mom always loved a party. recently, one of my brothers-in-law turned 50. a bunch of people gathered to celebrate and as i looked out the kitchen window, i was reminded that my mom wouldn't miss it for the world. plain and simple. love.

photo a day...one of my favorites of the year

i realized yesterday while i was watching a movie with beautiful scenery that beauty is best served to me in small doses. beauty fills me so completely that it is like i need to take small amounts at a time to really appreciate it. i love the 'big picture' but it's the small parts that make the whole that really do it for me.  of all the daily photos i have taken for these past 8 months and a few days, i think that this is one of my most favorite photos. to me, it is perfection.
